Construction begins on Highway 5/25 Green Isle to Highway 212 on July 20,2020

Detour expected to begin in August

MANKATO, Minn. – Motorists are advised to expect lane restrictions and brief delays as a resurfacing project on Highway 5/25 from Green Isle to Highway 212 begins Monday, July 20.  A detour is expected to begin in early August.

The detour consists of Sibley County Roads 15 and 9/McLeod County Road 1 and Highway 212 to the west or Highway 25, Sibley County Road 14/Carver County Road 53 and Highway 212 to the east.

The detour for the Highway 212 project in Norwood Young America will be removed prior to the start of the Highway 5/25 project.  For more information on Highway 212 visit

The project, which should be complete in October, includes resurfacing the roadway, repairing multiple culverts throughout the project, adding centerline and shoulder rumble strips and extending turn lanes at various locations.

Road work continues to be a critical service. MnDOT is committed to protecting the health, safety and well-being of its employees, contractors and all Minnesotans. Crews continue to follow the guidance of state and federal health officials to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Knife River Corporation from Sauk Rapids was awarded the project with a bid of $3,541,380.

CTC reopening – June 4th

The Computer Technology Center (CTC) will be open for users starting June 4th. Open Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-9 pm. At this time, there will be a limit of 2 users at a time. When there is more demand than that, users will be limited on time of use to ensure everyone gets access.

The City Office Doors will be open to the public starting May 26, 2020. The City Clerk will be in the office Tuesday (10am – 4pm), Wednesday (10am – 4pm) and Thursday (10am – 6pm).
